560k+ views on a Snapchat Geofilter!
For those of you that don’t know, Geofilters are the special overlays on snaps that are available in certain locations. First introduced in 2014, they’re now one of the most popular Snapchat features.
In 2015, Snapchat opened it up for developers to add their own custom Community Geofilters. If you go through the process, and Snapchat feels your custom Geofilter is up to the task, it makes the filter visible for all users.
Here’s some analytics from a recent Community Geofilter that I designed for an 3rd Level College in Ireland in January 2017.
As of June 2017 the filter has had 568,700+ impressions and 20,300+ uses in just one college semester.
Uses: refers to when the filter is used in either a direct snap or added to a story.
Views (earned impressions): refers to when someone views a snap with the embedded geofilter, either by direct snap or on a story.
Geofilters are a bit of fun, but also a great way of reinforcing your brand. For more information, click here.
